Our beloved Reed has left this world behind him to walk the meadows of Heaven. Our hearts have never felt grief this heavy. Reed was the best boy in the entire world and we miss him dearly. Words cannot express the weight on our hearts. We are holding onto the hope that we will see him again one day.
Reed was the start, and the entire reason for our program. Without him, there never would have been a Rivereed Golden Retrievers.
We brought Reed home on Christmas Eve, 2015.
We never knew true love until Reed walked into our lives.
Reed was the definition of “good dog”. From being the best companion, to a competitive athlete, Reed excelled at everything he did.
Reed stood exactly 23 ⅜” tall from the floor to his withers and averaged about 72 lbs. He had a beautiful, smooth, rich coat that was easy to groom with flashy feathers. His coat color was a dark gold, so deep that some considered him to be red.
Reed always had a good attitude and mellow personality even as a puppy. That never stopped him from having drive and perseverance on the field, in the ring or with simple puppy tricks.
He was always eager to learn because he was eager to please.

Reed passed away at ten years old, two months before his eleventh birthday. In his last months, Reed was actively competing in Rally towards his RACH. In only 6 months, Reed completed all of his 20 triple qualifications and most of his points. In those six months, he earned one Rally Trial High Combined and six Rally Trial High Triples. He unfortunately only needed 26 more Master points to achieve his Rally Champion title, but had to go before it was completed.

The year prior, Reed went to NADD Nationals for dock diving. He placed 7th overall in the Senior Veterans division. We took him on a whim and are now so glad that we got to experience this with him.
Reed was very intelligent and caught on quickly, making him fun to work and train with. He never met a stranger and welcomed himself to any bed or any couch. We have a house full of dogs, but Reed was truly the heart of our home.
Reed will be missed for the rest of our days. We pray that he knows how much we love him and that he filled the last 10 years of our lives with so much love and joy.
